Our entire lives have existed during the technological revolution. A revolution that has, without a doubt, increased our economic productivity. This gain had an individual cost. Cell phones and pagers built an expectation that we were always "on call". BlackBerries expanded this to e-mail, and smart phones to every other communication system and platform. Notifications constantly alerting us to some new expectation. Life and work have become increasingly intertwined.
AI represents the most significant opportunity to invert this correlation. We can increase productivity while reducing the personal cost.
We conceived Headway by considering what we wanted from the AI leg of this revolution. As early adopters, researchers, and evangelists, we know what AI is good at, and more importantly what it is not. AI lacks the spontaneity of human creativity and emotional understanding to be exceptional at many tasks. For example, if I asked it to explain human emotions like inspiration or grief, it would do so perfectly but it would fail to draft a script that makes the hair on my arms standup or my eyes water. That's value we bring. AI brings its deep knowledge, perfect logic, and always-on capacity allowing us to automate many of the routine things we find ourselves buried under. We want to leverage the best of AI to reduce the noise and "boilerplate" from our lives.
We don't want to replace the things that bring us joy with AI, but rather allow us to focus on them. We want our cake and we want to eat it too.
